The most important goal of football stadium lighting is to illuminate the playing field, provide high quality digital video signal to the media, and do not cause unpleasant glare to the players and referees, spilt light and glare to the spectators and the surrounding environment.
Installation height of lamp
The height of the lighting installation determines the success of the lighting system. The height of the lamp frame or pole shall meet the Angle of 25° between the horizontal plane and the direction of the stadium audience from the center of the field. The height of the lamp frame or pole may exceed the minimum Angle requirement of 25°, but should not exceed 45°
Audience and broadcast perspective
Providing a glare-free environment for athletes, referees and media was the most important design requirement. The following two areas are defined as glare zones, where lamps cannot be placed.
(1) Corner line area
In order to maintain a good view for the goalkeeper and the attacking player in the corner area, football field lights should not be placed within 15° of the goal line on either side.
(2) The area behind the goal line
In order to maintain a good view for attacking players and defenders in front of the goal, as well as television crews on the other side of the field, football stadium lights should not be placed within 20° behind the goal line and 45° above the level of the goal line.
